About Broccoli

Broccoli is a hardy vegetable that grows best in cool temperatures. If the average temperature is not much higher than 75oF, you can probably plant it directly outside in the ground. But if temperatures are still warm, you will need to start it indoors under growing lights.

About Cabbage

Cabbage is a hardy vegetable that grows best in cool temperatures. If the average temperature is not much higher than 75oF, you can probably plant it directly outside in the ground. But if temperatures are still warm, you will need to start it indoors under growing lights. Look for late-season varieties for they will do best in the fall. Late-season varieties can planted about a month after your spring frost date until 14 weeks before the fall frost date.

About Carrots

Carrots will grow well any time the soil temperatures are less than 80oF. For those who live where there are mild summers, you can probably plant this any time during the spring and summer. For those with a Spring-Fall or Fall-Winter-Spring pattern, you can probably plant carrots later than suggested here.

About Cauliflower

Cauliflower is the most temperamental vegetable to grow. It cannot tolerate extreme heat or cold. If the average temperature is not much higher than 75°F, you can probably plant it directly outside in the ground. But if temperatures are still warm, you will need to start it indoors under growing lights.
